The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an intergovernmental organisation of six independent member states whose principal function is to mark, record and maintain the graves and places of commemoration of Commonwealth of Nations military service members who died in the two World Wars.

The American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is an independent agency of the United States government that administers, operates, and maintains permanent U.S. military cemeteries, memorials and monuments.

WWII Tanks - Battle of the Bulge

On 16 December 1944 the Germans launched the last major offensive of the war, "Operation Mist", also known as the Ardennes Offensive and the Battle of the Bulge. It was an attempt to push the Allied front line west from northern France to northwestern Belgium. The Battle of the Bulge, so-called because the Germans created a “bulge” around the area of the Ardennes forest in pushing through the American defensive line. It was the largest battle fought on the Western front.
